We truly need to address some core, fundamental sores that have bedeviled marketing for too long now. Following many years in professional marketing, leading the Chartered
Institute of Marketing's Technology group and lately the 'MyMarketingLife' professional Marketer community, author David James Hood set out to change all of the above and more. After many years working to uncover why marketing simply wasn't performing as it should and why Marketers didn't have the status and prowess that they could have, David has created 'The Marketing Manifesto' as a positive and powerful response, decoding how to excel in marketing and in turn, offering much needed leadership to the profession.

David is a previous Chair of the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Technology group (CIMTech International), and after he came to marketing from the Life Sciences and Engineering, decided to follow a path that would see him challenging marketing's poor status and record. He has since undertaken a full and rigorous examination as to why certain key tenets of marketing are not being realised (such as the distinct lack of care for the customer, the absence of any robust needs-analysis methodologies, and a total lack of appropriate and much-needed support for the Marketer in their role by their professional bodies). As a leader in marketing he saw that the profession, practice and technologies were moving out from the Marketer's domain; the Marketer was losing control (if they ever had it!), and there was a lack of robustness and professional standards. But he also saw the opportunity for individuals and organisations to really embrace true marketing and secure an unassailable competitive advantage.
